Diversions

Hmmm. . . There is so much to do, where can I start?  And really, you are in town to see us, right?  :o )

Well, If you have some extra time, what you choose to do will depend on your personal preferences (of course) so I have tried to give a variety of different diversions.

We might be a little biased, but there is something super special about a community that lends itself to skiing one day, SCUBA diving the next and a night of opera at one of the premier opera houses in between.  We have it all from phenomenal wildlife and parks of all sorts, the ocean and coast and coastal redwoods and the water sports that come with a coast and the ocean.  We also have world class museums and cultural events and different cultural centers or epicenters.  We have the gold country, the wine country, the foothills, Yosemite, the desert, the high country and the mountains all feasible for a day trip.  Whatever you want to do, you will have fun.  With a good map to get you home, I even recommend getting lost for the day, I always find new and cool things that way.

A few of our favorites:

Wine tasting in the wine Napa, Sonoma, Russian River, or Alexander River Valleys.  Any one of them could give you several hours or several days of enjoyment.  Clicking on the grapes will take you to a truly inspiring list of many of the wineries close to us.  If you are really interested in going, let us know and we can help you out with where to go for the sort of experience you are after.

Go into the City.  You can take public transport and get quite happily to most places in San Francisco but don't expect to get everywhere; I have been here my whole life and I still haven't been everywhere.  San Francisco has great spots to sit and watch the people, a neat Chinatown, Fisherman's Warf, Pier 39, Union Square, and literally hundreds of niche neighborhoods that are fun to visit and explore.  There are the museums (SFMOMA is incredible!) and there are so many things to do!

Felipe just visited Yosemite for the fist time and we can't wait to go back.  We did it as a day trip, but it definitely deserves a lot more time, if you have it.  If you don't have it and you won't have another chance, it is worth the time in the car just to see this glacier carved valley.  Besides, you can always stretch your legs on one of the many hikes or strolls the valley has to offer.  Beautiful granite cliffs and brave wildlife coupled with the heavy water flow of the springtime and the new vegetation will definitely make Yosemite worth the trip.

We can also put you on to close by places to kayak, SCUBA, sail, hike, (all those things that I haven't been able to do lately) or good places to dine, dance, relax, read a good book, get a mean martini or a great sidecar, or generally just have fun, take it slow, or do all or any of the above.

We are just excited you are coming to our neck of the woods :o )
